Take all Measurements in feet and inches

1. Mast Rake: Attach a weight to the end of the main halyard and let it hang down just off the deck. Measure the distance it hangs behind the backside of the mast.

2. E Measurement: Measure from the backside of the mast at the gooseneck, along the boom to the location of the clew. If the boat has a black band to mark this location, measure from the backside of the mast to the inside edge of the black band.

3. Mast to Backstay: Measure from the backside of the mast at the gooseneck to the backstay, parallel to the waterline.

4. P Measurement: If you have a sliding gooseneck fix it at the height you want it to be. Attach your tape to the main halyard and hoist it to the location of the head of the sail, if the mast has an upper black band hoist it to the lower edge of the band. Measure to the top of the boom.

5. Max Hoist: With the halyard still attached to the tape, hoist it all the way to the top, as high as it will go. Measure to the top of the boom.

6. Max Leech: Hold your boom so that the back end is at the height you want it to be while sailing. With the tape still pulled all the way to the top of the mast, measure to the clew position at the end of the boom.

7. Tack Pin Aft: Measure from the backside of the mast to the front side of the tack pin.

8. Tack Pin Up: Measure from the top of the boom to the lower side of the tack pin.

9. Clew Type: Does the clew of the main attach to a car at the end of the boom, or does it just have a slide attached to the clew?

10. Clew Pin Up: If the clew attaches to a car, measure from the top of the boom to the lower side of the clew pin.

11. Luff Slide Type: Put a “check mark” in the box that matches the type of slides you have on the luff of your mainsail.

12. Luff Slide Size: Measure the size of your luff slides or bold rope.

13. Our standard mains are loose footed. If you want the option to have an “Attached Foot”, measure for the foot slides the same as you did for the luff slides.

14. Foot Slide Type: Put a “check mark” in the box that matches the type of slides you have on the foot of your mainsail.

15. Foot Slide Size: Measure the size of your foot slides or bolt rope.

16. Reef Block #1 Location: If the boom is equipped with reef blocks, measure from the backside of the mast to the bearing point on the sheave of the farthest out reef block.

17. Reef Block #2 Location: If the boom is equipped for 2 reefs and you are ordering a second reef, measure from the backside of the mast to the bearing point on the sheave of the second reef block.

18. Reef Block #3 Location: If the boom is equipped for 3 reefs and you are ordering a third reef, measure from the backside of the mast to the bearing point on the sheave of the third reef block.

19. Backstay Crane: Estimate the distance the backstay crane projects out from the backside of the mast. (Hint: measure the fore and aft dimension of the mast and compare the mast size to the crane).
